The customer came into our dry cleaners in Roskilde with a mattress topper cover with old, clearly visible stains. She did not want to use it as it was, but the care label advised against both washing and dry cleaning.
We assessed the fabric's composition, construction and condition and went through the options with the customer. On that basis we chose to pre-treat the stains and give the cover a gentle wash at 30 degrees.
The cover kept its shape and size, and the customer was extremely pleased with the result. See the difference between before and after in the pictures.
The treatment was chosen based on a specific assessment of this cover. When the care label advises against washing or dry cleaning, we first go through the options and risks with the customer. This case is not a recommendation to wash similar textiles at home. We only treat the removable cover of the mattress topper. The foam core must be taken out before handing it in, as we cannot treat it.
