Curtains: how to get them ready for dry cleaning

From taking down to hanging up — practical advice that makes the process simple and protects the fabric.

Before you take them down

Feel free to take a picture of how they hang, and keep hooks, rings and tapes together. Note which curtains belong in which room.

Material and light

Sunlight weakens fibres over time. Older curtains can therefore be more delicate than they look. We assess the fabric before choosing the treatment.

What we need to know

Tell us the number of curtains, approximate measurements and what the care label says, if there is one. Also tell us about known stains, sun or water marks and whether the curtains have lining, blackout lining or sewn-on tapes, so we can assess the scope of the job in advance.

After treatment

Many curtains hang best when they are put back up shortly after treatment. We agree the time with you if you wish.
